HEDO Meta is a liquid bio insecticide by HEDOAG India Private Limited, formulated with the entomopathogenic fungus Metarhizium anisopliae at a concentration of 1×10â¹ CFU/ml. This insecticide works by attaching fungal spores to the outer body of target insects, germinating through the cuticle, and colonising the insect from the inside, draining nutrients and causing death within 4–14 days. Metarhizium anisopliae leaves no toxic residues in soil or crop, is safe for pollinators, earthworms, and beneficial organisms, and is fully approved for use in organic farming systems.
Entomopathogenic Fungal Action: Metarhizium anisopliae spores attach to the insect cuticle, germinate, penetrate the body wall, and colonise the insect internally.
Broad Pest Spectrum: HEDO Meta controls Beetles, Weevils, White Grubs, Root Grubs, Aphids, Thrips, Leaf Hoppers, Borers, Cutworms, Termites, Japanese Beetle, Black Vine Weevil, Spittlebug, and Palm Weevil.
Secondary Spread: After killing the host insect, metarhizium anisopliae sporulates inside the cadaver and releases new spores into the soil or on plant surfaces.
High CFU Count: Formulated at 1×10â¹ CFU/ml, HEDO Meta delivers a high and effective concentration of viable fungal spores per millilitre, ensuring consistent pest control performance across all application methods.
Residue-Free and Organic Approved: As a biological metarhizium anisopliae insecticide, HEDO Meta leaves no chemical residues on the crop or in the soil.
Safe for Beneficial Organisms: This Metarhizium anisopliae insecticide is highly selective and does not harm pollinators, earthworms, predatory insects, or beneficial soil microbes.
Multiple Application Methods: This Metarhizium anisopliae insecticide can be used as a foliar spray, soil drench, drip irrigation, seed treatment, or mixed with FYM, making HEDO Meta flexible across all crop types and farm setups.
Compatible with Bio-Inputs: Works well alongside biofertilizers, other bio-pesticides, and plant growth promoters, ideal for integrated pest management (IPM) programmes.
HEDO Meta covers both soil-dwelling and foliar pest groups:
Soil Pests: White Grubs, Root Grubs, Termites, Root Weevils, Cutworms, Black Vine Weevil
Foliar Pests: Aphids, Thrips, Leaf Hoppers, Spittlebugs, Plant Hoppers
Boring Pests: Borers, Palm Weevil, Japanese Beetle
General: All Beetles and Weevils across vegetable, cereal, fruit, and plantation crops
Apply HEDO Meta in the evening or early morning, as UV exposure during midday rapidly degrades fungal spores. Maintain soil moisture after application for best germination and spread of metarhizium anisopliae.
Application Method | Dose | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Foliar Spray | 3–5 ml per litre of water | Spray in evening; target pest-affected foliage |
Soil Drench / Soil Application | 2 litres per acre in 200 litres of water | Apply near root zone; maintain moisture after |
Drip Irrigation | 2–3 litres per acre | Introduce during last 20–30 min of irrigation cycle |
Seed Treatment | 10 ml per kg of seeds | Coat seeds uniformly; shade-dry before sowing |
FYM Mix | Mix with 50–100 kg well-decomposed FYM per acre | Broadcast and incorporate before sowing |
Measure the required dose of HEDO Meta as per the application method and target pest in the table above.
For foliar spray, mix 3–5 ml per litre of clean water and agitate well before loading the sprayer.
Spray evenly on both upper and lower leaf surfaces and around the base of the plant where soil pests are active.
For soil drench, dilute 2 litres in 200 litres of water per acre and apply directly to the root zone. Water the field lightly after application to move spores into the soil.
For drip irrigation, introduce the diluted solution during the final 20–30 minutes of an irrigation cycle for even root zone coverage.
For seed treatment, coat seeds with 10 ml per kg using a mild jaggery solution as a binding agent, mix uniformly, and shade-dry for 30 minutes before sowing.
Always apply during evening or early morning, never during midday UV exposure, which destroys fungal viability.
Do not mix with chemical fungicides or chemical pesticides in the same tank.
Apply HEDO Meta only in the evening (after 5 PM) or early morning (before 8 AM) to protect metarhizium anisopliae spores from UV-related degradation. Conditions above 60% humidity and temperatures between 20–30°C give the fastest and most effective pest knockdown.
Frequency of Application: Apply at the first sign of pest infestation. Repeat every 15–20 days for sustained pest population reduction. Two to three applications per season are recommended for soil pests; more frequent foliar sprays may be needed during peak pest pressure.
Re-Entry Period: HEDO Meta is non-toxic to humans. No strict re-entry restriction applies. Allow foliar spray to dry before re-entering the field.
Tank-Mix Compatibility: Compatible with biofertilizers, bio-pesticides, and plant growth promoters. Do not mix with chemical fungicides, bactericides, or chemical pesticides; these destroy fungal spores and reduce product effectiveness.
Wear gloves and a face mask when measuring and mixing HEDO Meta.
Avoid inhaling spray mist during application. Work in well-ventilated conditions.
Do not mix with chemical fungicides or pesticides, as it will destroy the live metarhizium anisopliae spores.
Keep out of direct sunlight during handling and storage, as UV exposure reduces spore viability rapidly.
Keep away from children, food, and water sources at all times.
Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water after use.
Dispose of empty containers as per local agricultural waste guidelines.
Store HEDO Meta in its original sealed container in a cool, dry, dark place away from direct sunlight.
Do not store near chemical pesticides, fertilizers, or heat sources.
Keep away from food, animal feed, and seeds.
Storage Temperature: Below 25°C (refrigeration recommended for extended shelf life).
Shelf Life: 12 months from the date of manufacture.

It is a naturally occurring entomopathogenic fungus that infects and kills insects. When spores come into contact with an insect's outer body, they germinate, penetrate the cuticle, and colonise the insect internally, draining nutrients and producing toxins that cause death within 4–14 days. After the insect dies, the fungus sporulates and spreads to other nearby pests.
As a metarhizium anisopliae insecticide, HEDO Meta controls White Grubs, Root Grubs, Termites, Root Weevils, Borers, Cutworms, Aphids, Thrips, Leaf Hoppers, Spittlebugs, Japanese Beetle, Black Vine Weevil, Palm Weevil, and Beetles.
Yes, HEDO Meta is a naturally occurring organism and leaves no chemical residues in the soil or crop. It is fully suitable for certified organic farming systems and IPM programmes.
Fungal spores are rapidly degraded by UV radiation during midday sunlight. Applying metarhizium anisopliae insecticide in the evening or early morning protects spore viability, giving them time to attach to pest surfaces and germinate before UV exposure the following day. High humidity (>60%) and temperatures between 20–30°C further improve germination speed and effectiveness.
Pest mortality from metarhizium anisopliae typically begins within 4–14 days of application, depending on temperature, humidity, pest species, and life stage. Younger larvae are killed faster than adult insects.
